Tancrey, Fordwich
Tancrey means house between two bridges and sits in the centre of the picturesque town of Fordwich. The building itself has evolved over a period of five centuries with areas built, demolished, refurbished and modified over that time. The roof space in the wing shown had been used by servants many years ago. The current owners felt it would be nice to reinstate the two rooms and in doing so exposed a whole host of historic changes that had previously taken place. Working closely with the Local Authority conservation Architect and the Kent Archaeological Trust the reinstatement of this building to it's former glory is taking shape.

Front Elevation
An extremely tight site with all of the problems of working in a busy town centre and a flood plain zone. Careful material selection and a design in keeping with adjoining historic buildings made this scheme a genuine contribution to the local streetscape.
